Magnificent historic 1958 Lourdes Apparition 100th Anniversary Rosary made specifically to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Holy Mary's appearance to Bernadette at Lourdes in 1858. Made of lucite, each Ave bead has a tiny image of Mary inside and the Pater beads have The Sacred Heart of Jesus. The story goes that these beads were filled with miraculous Lourdes water when they were made but it has long since evaporated. This is one of the most unusual rosaries ever made and it is becoming quite difficult to find one in this condition. All beads are present and they are quite clear with very little clouding. Rosary is large at 24 1/2" long when laid flat. See all the pictures for details.

Rosary was made in Italy, all metal parts are Alpaca which is a bright silver color alloy, but contains no silver. Do NOT use silver polish on alpaca as this can harm it. Commonly used in Europe and South America in jewelry, it retains a bright shine and doesn't tarnish.

Beads are very fragile, it is hard to find a rosary where they are all present. These are in exceptional condition with very little clouding. This is a historic collector's rosary and not recommended for daily use. The metal links and chain are quite sturdy, but the beads should not be exposed to chemicals in hand cremes, sunlight or extremes of temperature.

Written around the edge of the center is "Je suis l'immaculee conception" Lourdes. "I am the Immaculate Conception"
